Today's Agent Skill: Press Release First Drafter
What It Does
Getting coverage in a local newspaper, trade publication, or industry newsletter can drive real business, but most small business owners skip press releases because they don't know how to write one and can't justify a PR agency retainer. This skill turns a basic description of your news into a publish-ready press release in minutes.
How It Works
The agent takes your announcement — a new product, a major hire, a business milestone, a community event, or a new location — and structures it into a standard inverted-pyramid press release: headline, dateline, lead paragraph, supporting quotes, body paragraphs, and a boilerplate "About" section. It formats the output to match AP Style conventions that editors expect.
How to Deploy It
Run this skill in Claude Code, Gemini CLI, Cursor, or Windsurf by pasting a short bullet-point description of your news as input. After the skill produces a draft, copy it into Google Docs and share with the relevant editor or journalist. For distribution to a wider list, upload the finished release to a free distribution tool like PR.com or EIN Presswire.

## Steps
1. Draft a headline (70 characters or fewer) that leads with the most newsworthy fact and names the company.
2. Write the dateline (City, STATE — Month DD, YYYY —) followed by a 2-3 sentence lead paragraph that answers who, what, when, where, and why.
3. Insert one quote from the owner or executive after the lead,
