Today's Agent Skill: Angry Customer De-Escalation Message Drafter

What It Does

An upset customer email or message can ruin a morning — and a poor response can turn a fixable situation into a lost customer or a public complaint. Most small business owners freeze when they need to respond quickly under pressure, unsure how to acknowledge the problem without admitting liability or making promises they can't keep.

How It Works

The agent takes a description of the customer's complaint and what actually happened, then produces a calm, empathetic response that acknowledges the experience, states a concrete next step, and re-opens the relationship. It generates both a standard version and an optional firmer version for bad-faith complaints, formatted for the specified channel (email, SMS, or direct message).

How to Deploy It

Run this skill in Claude Code, Gemini CLI, Cursor, or Windsurf by pasting the customer's original message and a brief description of what happened from your side. After reviewing the draft, send it directly from your email client or copy it into your messaging platform. For high-volume businesses, save effective responses as templates in Gmail or HubSpot for future use.

SKILL.md — Ready to Deploy

## Description
Transforms a description of an upset customer situation into a calm, professional response message that acknowledges the problem, expresses genuine empathy, states a concrete resolution step, and leaves the customer relationship intact — for email, SMS, or direct message.

## Trigger
Invoke when the user says "help me respond to an angry customer," "write a de-escalation message," "a customer is furious and I don't know what to say," or pastes a negative message or complaint they received.

## Input
- Customer's original message or a description of what they're upset about
- What actually happened from the business's perspective
- What can realistically be offered to resolve it (refund, redo, discount, explanation, or nothing beyond an apology)
- Business name and owner's first name for the sign-off
- Tone preference: apologetic, firm-but-fair, or warm-and-direct
- Channel: email, SMS, or direct message platform

## Steps
1. Identify the core complaint and the customer's emotional state (frustrated, threatening, confused, disappointed).
2. Draft an opening line that immediately acknowledges the customer's experience without admitting liability. Avoid corporate filler
